An unfortunate error has come to my attention regarding issue 46 of Apex Magazine. There was an error made creating the HTML file that is uploaded to the Kindle subscription services website. Many of you have probably already noticed the error, in fact. The content for Rachel Swirsky’s story “If You Were a Dinosaur, My Love” was overwritten by Liz Argall’s story “Mermaid’s Hook.” So, in effect, Liz’s story ran twice and Rachel’s story did not run.
When I was informed of the error, I made the corrections to the HTML file and uploaded it to the Amazon Kindle subscription services website. To my dismay, Amazon will not make alterations to articles already published via this service. Naturally, they do offer the ability to have articles retracted and the ability to remove completely an entire issue from a subscriber’s Kindle. If you were to buy the issue after the upload, it will have the correct content, but our subscribers were out of luck.
To make sure our Kindle subscribers receive Rachel Swirsky’s fantastic story on their devices, Apex Magazine has included “If You Were a Dinosaur, My Love” in issue 47, but only in the Kindle subscriber version of the issue.
Tangent Online reviewer Chuck Rothman said that “If You Were a Dinosaur, My Love” is the best story he has read in several years. I would love to hear your opinion. Email me and let me know! ([email protected]).
As I started work building the eBook editions of issue 47, I received the wonderful news that Apex Magazine has received a Hugo nomination for Best Semiprozine! Lynne Thomas, Michael Damian Thomas, and myself put dozens of hours of work into each issue, and knowing that you, our readers, consider us Hugo worthy fills me with pride and a great sense of fulfillment. Thank you so much for the honor.
