As we head into sunnier weather in the north and cooler weather in the south, Apex has all the strange, surreal, shocking, and beautiful fiction you need. Here’s everything we’ve got going on in May!

Issue 131

Issue 131 will be released May 2nd! Cover art by Reza Afshar, new fiction from Hannah Yang, Koji A. Dae, Sam Asher, Sage Tyrtle, Tonya Liburd, Tim Waggoner, classic fiction from Eugen Bacon and Jayn Gates, and nonfiction from Errick Nunnally and Jeffrey Ford. We can’t wait to share this amazing collection with you. Watch for our releases at www.apex-magazine.com.

Podcast Episode 89

Our May Podcast will be “Hoodie” by Tonya Liburd. Narrated by the author, it promises to be a special episode.

Check out Episode 88, “To Live and Die in Dixieland”, by Russell Nichols.

Apex Magazine 2021 Compilation Anthology

Our Kickstarter to fund the 2021 Compilation Anthology is funded, but we’re not done yet! We’ve got 10 more days to reach our stretch goals, the first of which is paying all contributing authors an additional $0.01/word for their stories. We’ve got some amazing add-ons and hope you’ll join us.

New Release! FUTURE ARTIFACTS: STORIES

Our newest book, FUTURE ARTIFACTS: STORIES, is releasing May 17th. Kameron Hurley is the author of The Stars are Legion, The Light Brigade, and The Geek Feminist Revolution, as well as the God’s War Trilogy and the Worldbreaker Saga. Hurley has won the Hugo Award, Kitschy Award, BSFA Award, and Sydney J. Bounds Award for Best Newcomer. Visit her at kameronhurley.com.

Join an investigation into a cruel and heartless leader … crawl through filth and mud to escape biological warfare … team up with time-traveling soldiers faced with potentially life-altering instructions.

The author will be joining us on the Apex Discord on Release Day, May 17th, at 4pm central for an AMA! All Apex Magazine subscribers can join our Discord.

FUTURE ARTIFACTS: STORIES will also be our Patreon May Book of the Month—book patrons will receive their copy the week of release!
