Lesley Conner is a writer and managing editor for Apex Magazine. She spends her days pestering book reviewers, proofreading, wrangling slush, doling out contracts, and chatting about books, writing, and anything else that crosses her mind on the @ApexBookCompany Twitter account. Most of her nights are spent with a good book and a glass of wine. Her alternative history horror novel, The Weight of Chains, was published by Sinister Grin Press. To discover all her secrets follow her on Twitter at @LesleyConner.

Here at Apex Magazine we believe cover art is important. It introduces each issue of the magazine, and creates an impression on readers before they even see the table of contents. Amazing artwork allows Apex to look its best, and we adore the artists we have had the pleasure of working with over the last 12 months.

With this mind, we are excited to open the 2017 Apex Magazine Cover of the Year poll! Below you can see all twelve covers from the past year. We have worked with artists from around the globe who specialize in many different mediums and techniques. Some are artists we have featured before – Adrian Borda and Marcella Bolivar – but many are new to our pages. Take a moment and discover each of these pieces again, then vote for your favorite.

Voting will remain open until February 5th.
